Giveaway in Conjunction with Flowering Bulb Sale

REQUEST TREES

K10 has given Perry County Conservation District the following species of trees to giveaway. All trees and shrubs will be reserved and given away on a first common, first serve basis.

If you would like to reserve trees use the contact form below and identify the species and quantity requested.

PLEASE NOTE: If you decided to take free trees, you will be required to provide your address for tracking

Buttonbush (shrub)

The native PA buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) is a moisture-loving shrub with round, white, fragrant flowers that attract pollinators. It thrives in wetlands and stream banks, providing great wildlife habitat and erosion control.

​

Common Ninebark (shrub)

The common ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a hardy, native shrub with peeling bark, white-pink spring flowers, and red seed pods. It thrives in various soils, supports pollinators, and provides year-round interest.

Red Chokeberry (shrub)

Red chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia) is a native shrub known for its bright red berries and white spring flowers. It grows well in wet or dry soils and provides excellent wildlife food. The dark green leaves turn vibrant red in fall, adding seasonal color to landscapes.

Silky Dogwood (shrub)

Silky dogwood (Cornus amomum) is a native shrub that thrives in wet soils, often found along stream banks. It features smooth, silvery-gray bark, clusters of small white flowers in spring, and dark blue berries in late summer. Its attractive foliage turns reddish-purple in the fall, making it a great choice for wildlife habitat and natural landscaping.

Silver Maple - NO MORE AVAILABLE 

Silver maple (Acer saccharinum) is a fast-growing tree native. Known for its silvery, reflective undersides of leaves, it provides a lush canopy and offers great shade. It thrives in wet soils, often found along rivers and floodplains, and is a favorite for wildlife, attracting birds and insects.

Spicebush (shrub)

Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) is a fragrant, native shrub that thrives in woodlands and along streambanks. It has aromatic leaves, bright yellow flowers in early spring, and red berries in the fall. Spicebush provides great habitat for wildlife and is known for its spicy scent when crushed.

Winterberry (shrub)

​Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) is a deciduous holly native to North America. It features bright red berries that persist through winter, providing food for birds. This shrub thrives in wet soils and adds vibrant color to landscapes, especially in colder months when most other plants are dormant.
